GENRE

GROUNDED SCIENCE FICTION. THRILLER.

Variance is a body swap narrative, a genre of its own, but lives in grounded science fiction. The story is character driven. The plot & setting is based in realism, with the exception of near-future technology & the otherworldly body swap narrative. There’s no extensive CGI, or big set pieces, or huge explosions and multiple locations. This is an intimate story set largely in one location.

THEMES

Co-Dependence permeates every relationship that Sophie has in the story.

Redemption is actively sought by Sophie, and ultimately achieved through her actions.

PROOF OF CONCEPT

Variance is based on our own short film, MIA&I. Below is a portion of that short that showcases the writing.
